About the event

Jan Downey is a cultural anthropologist who has worked with cultural groups in this country and abroad. She taught anthropology courses for 13 years at the college level, where she was residential faculty and continues to offer anthropology topics in community settings. Critical Race Theory is a hotly contested topic right now. Republican-sponsored legislation on CRT, and the theory’s relationship to curriculum, is based on misunderstandings and incorrect assumptions.  Jan will provide context and clarification of what CRT is, and what it is not, so audience members can have better informed discussions on the subject.
