We mail, we phone, we text, we canvass. It's called layering voter contact – reaching them in different ways. Our friends at Optimists Resist recently experimented with contacting voters about signing up to vote by mail, the Active Early Voting List, or AEVL
They learned that the voters who were contacted in two DIFFERENT ways, for example, a phone call followed by a text message, followed through almost twice as frequently.
Layering is effective.
LD3 Dems is known for our extensive mailer to voters. In some ways, it's like a massive Lit Drop, but it's done by mail. A traditional Lit Drop, going to doors and leaving campaign advertisements without speaking to voters, isn't as effective as a canvass where we do talk to voters. Our mailer is more than what we do with a Lit Drop. It's designed to be more personal by being hand-addressed and including a highly tailored guide on who to vote for. Key to the personalization is a letter from our Chair, Victoria Kauzlarich.
The mailer isn't all we do. We are canvassing door-to-door in neighborhoods that are both accessible and need the extra touch.
We'll be using bulk text messaging in targeted ways. It's cost-effective and helps reach those who are inaccessible.
