/ˈɡlət(ə)nē/ - habitual greed or excess in eating

(though his appetite for Big Macs is well known, this isn’t about Trump’s obesity)

Hey, DOGE! Here’s a tip on the latest government fraud and abuse and the call is coming from inside the White House. No surprise there. Trump’s latest plan is to spend $200 million of our tax dollars on an East Wing ballroom to seat 650 people fashioned after the gaudy and over gilded Mar-a-Lago ballroom (no such thing as too much gold in Trump world, check out the Oval Office), notwithstanding the Regime’s claim that the cost will be borne by Trump and his donors.

This week, Forbes reported that converting the infamous $400 million 747-8 jumbo jet “gifted” to Trump for use as Air Force One will cost taxpayers a whopping $1 billion. And make no mistake, the plane is Trump’s and not the Defense Department’s, by virtue of its transfer to his presidential library foundation once he leaves office.

Another $10 million to promote his second golf course in Scotland this week. In the past six months during which he fired tens of thousands of federal workers, CitizensForEthics.org reports that Trump has made 99 visits to his properties, including 62 to his golf courses. He’s spent a full one-third of his second term visiting properties to promote the Trump Organization’s businesses.

And consider the obscene market manipulations (think TACO) these past several months that have enriched him and his family, as well as all of his wealthy friends. Every time he tanks the market after a tariff announcement, the rich get richer. (Add this to the estimated $2.4 billion according to Forbes that he personally raked in during his first term, and being POTUS is not a bad gig.)

Meanwhile, unemployment and inflation are ticking up as Trump lashes out at the Fed Chair, toilet tweeting "He is TOO LATE, and actually, TOO ANGRY, TOO STUPID, & TOO POLITICAL, to have the job of Fed Chair." It’s undeniable that inflation disproportionately affects lower-income families. Yet, only six out of ten Americans fault Trump for their financial troubles. You’d think the number would be higher.

Some Walmart price tracking shows considerable price hikes from May to July - a 12-piece set of pots and pans from Beautiful, a label exclusive to Walmart, rose from $99 to $149. The cost of a 12-inch frying pan climbed from $24.97 to $31.97. A Graco convertible stroller and car seat increased in price from $199.99 to $299. And wait for the fallout from the recently proposed 50% tariff on Brazil, the largest U.S. supplier of green coffee beans and the source for about a third of the country’s total supply.

A significant portion of Trump supporters weren’t alive during The Great Inflation from 1965 to 1980 when inflation was at its highest in modern history or were too young to remember The Great Recession of 2008. Maybe their ignorance of history explains why they would vote for the most incompetent, most greedy and most corrupt president in American history.

But, gluttons for punishment that they are, they can always eat gilded cake, n’est pas?
